What is monovision?

What is monovision?
Monovision is an option for particular vision problems, and associated with contact lenses, where by one contact sees say distance with a certain prescription, and the other contact in the other eye sees at another distance, say for reading.
Monovision is a way to get bifocal vision with your contact lenses, without using a bifocal contact lens. It works like this - you wear one contact lens for distance vision, and the other (with a different prescription) for near vision. Not everybody can get used to using one eye for far and one for near, but surprisungly about 4 out of 5 can.
Maybe the same thing as mono ocular vision. If it's yes. It means when a person has lost the sight of one eye, so this person can just see by one eye.
