What really happens when you die?

do you feel a certian feeling like calmnessWhat really happens when you die?
the Bible says at ecclesiastes 9:5 that "the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are concious of nothing at all."
So, its that simple, its like a deep, deep sleep. no burning forever, just sleep and awaiting a resurrection(John 5:28,29)
I dont think youre going to get an answer for this really. No one knows, because no one has died and come back to tell about it.
ill tell u when i do

Butt will sag.
guilt in many cases, std in others, unwanted pregnancies...need I say more
For a guy you realize that it wasn't the ultimate thing to live for. For a girl, If your the guy who took it from her, it's extremely hard to get rid of the girl. I also heard for the girls it hurts for days and doesn't even feel good.
nothing, besides the risk of a std. other than that it can't hurt you
Pressure to have one person in your life in an intimate relationship. I don't recommend this if you are young. It is so much better to have lots of friends to hang out with or date. Once you have sex with someone, they want a commited relationship or you do.

What questions should I ask my LASIK surgeon?

What questions should I ask my LASIK surgeon?
The success of LASIK, as with any other surgical procedure, starts with choosing the right LASIK surgeon. It's the same as shopping for a pair of eyeglasses--except, of course, that you want to scratch the specs.
1) At least once when you're in your twenties
2) At least twice when you're in your thirties
3) Every two to four years when you're in the 40 (presbyopia appears) to 64 age range
4) After age 65, every one to two years
How many he's done before yours? They always make you sign a paper saying you understand that an accident can blind you. Ask if he ever blinded a patient or otherwise injured one. On the other hand, I think my lasik was the best thing I ever did...
Here's 20 questions you need to ask your eye surgeon!
Good luck.

What over the counter meds are there to control nausea?

I het nauseaous often time wafter waking up in the morning, and then at night, and sometimes durin the day. There is no reason that I can figure out for this Are there any over the counter meds I can take to ease this? What over the counter meds are there to control nausea?
Go to the produce department of any major grocery store. Buy a piece of GINGER ROOT. When you get home, take a knife, peel off the skin (the skin is brown) and cut off a good-sized chunk of the yellow flesh inside. Chew on it and suck the ginger-juice out. When all the juice is gone, spit out the chewy root. Your nausea will dissapear completely. Try it and let us know how you feel.
You can get non-drowsy Gravol (here in Canada, I don't know if you can get it where you live)...they are chewable and are gingerroot, I believe. I took them while on an airplane and they worked great. I wouldn't be eating gingerroot...ewwww.

What multivitamins can my teen cousins take?

My mother has have a hard time to find some multivitamins to give to them. (She takes care of them because thir mom is really sick). One is 13 other is 16.
Give them childrens multivitamins or adult ones?
Or do they have one for teens also? What multivitamins can my teen cousins take?
I am 36 and adult vitamins make me feel sick...I take Flinstones and they work fine for me
They don't need vitamins if she is feeding them properly. Vitamins are ONLY needed if you don't have enough of a certain vitamin in your body naturally. But that can only be determined by a doctor. As long as she is feeding them right, they are fine.
it all depends on what vitamins they need. a childrens vitamin may not be enough, but an adult vitamin may be too much. before they get on the multivitamin, have them go to the doctor first and run tests (blood sugar, thyroid, etc.) to see if they are inefficient in certain nutrients. then go from there

What medication can i take for "ringing ears"?

What medication can i take for "ringing ears"?
Hi! I'm an Audiologist.
There is no "cure" for tinnitus. Tinnitus may be a symptom of other problems, and it may be reduced or resolved by treating the primary problem. A comprehensive audiological evaluation and examination by a Ear specialist are necessary for accurate diagnosis. You don't give me any description to work from, so I'll keep it general...
First, you want to ensure that there is nothing obstructing the ear canal, such as a build-up of ear wax (cerumen). You also want your middle ear status checked, to know whether anything, such as negative pressure or fluid, is preventing the eardrum from moving normally for sound vibrations. These problems typically cause reduced or muffled hearing, in addition to making tinnitus seem louder in comparison.
If these have been ruled-out, the Dr. may want to do imaging of your brain to see if there's something pressing on the auditory nerve. This is especially true if the tinnitus is primarily in just one ear. If you also have spinning dizziness (vertigo), you may have Meniere's Disease or another disorder effecting both the auditory and vestibular portions of the inner ear.
Many people who have been exposed to excessive amounts of noise have rining tinnitus, and others (like me) have it all our lives. Some people find relief through taking Ginko Biloba. To date, it is the only supplement that has been independently researched and shown to have a positive correlation with tinnitus reduction. Healthy lifestyle also helps: good nutrition, adequate hydration, quality sleep, as well as maintaining normal blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol levels.
Take care!
Lipoflavanoid is what I have heard advertised. I cannot testify to its safety or efficacy.

What medical insurance can I get to cover my mother?

What medical insurance can I get to cover my mother?
How old is she? Can she receive Medicare? How about Medicaid? Check with Social Security, if you are in the U.S.
Other than that, you can look into different medical coverages which can be purchased. Try: http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/...
Good luck...and I think it is WAY cool that you are taking care of your mother!!!!!!!!

Hello Dale,
You never mentioned where your mom lives. can you add some information.
I will come back to this question. and might help others to asset you in right ways to go forth.
Do you mean you want her on your plan? How old is she?
Dale, The age of your mother is important as it defines what insurance can be offered. There is Blue Cross and Blue Shield, they are expensive. As the other person noted the state you live in also matters.

What makes us crave certain foods?

I keep craving coke after I play tennis, however I very rarely drink coke. What makes us crave certain foods?
Our bodies tend to crave what it needs. Your thirsty after tennis and crave a sugar jolt. Our cravings aren't always good for us.
i think you are rather in the habit than craving
Cravings occur when the body perceives a deficiency of some minerals or nutrients that one is used to., or when there is sudden exhaustion from occasional loss of any essential nutrients.
    unless you are pregnant

What liquid medicine can I take for cramps?

I can't swallow pills at all. Not even liquid filled pills. So any liquid medicine I can take for cramps from periods? What liquid medicine can I take for cramps?
There's liquid Motrin and liquid Tylenol.
I don't think there are any pain killers made in liquid form. Perhaps you can try to cut the pill in half and try to swallow it that way...
Not sure, but a basic cold medicine that has a pain reliever might help.
I don't swallow pills much at all either, and if they aren't little then forget even trying. I tend to just bite an Aleve real quick, but that takes getting used to because they burn a bit going down (oddly enough). Would not recommend that for a sensitive stomach.

What kind of foods are helpful with providing the essential vitamins and minerals for growing taller?

Well I' m a wee bit behind my average height for my age, although my docotor says that people are all different during puberty this continuously stumps me. My doctor has also told me it is genetics and that there is not much that can be done. But I was wondering is it my lack of eating certain foods? If so what kind should I be eating and how often? What kind of foods are helpful with providing the essential vitamins and minerals for growing taller?
    Spinach and beans
I would not know but I think lots of veggies would be helpful.

What kind of doctor should i go see if im having a noise induced hearing problem?

should i just go to urgent care or my family doctor or anything besides that and how do i find them thank youWhat kind of doctor should i go see if im having a noise induced hearing problem?
Any doctor can help you out but an Otolaryngologist would be your best bet. A simpler word is E.N.T. which stands for ear/nose/throat specialist.
I know this sounds weird but your hearing could be on the line here. Call in first thing tommorow morning. If nothing happens, go to a clinic such as walk-in urgent care.
you should prolly go see an ent (ears nose throat) doc instead of going to urgent care or your family doc because all they would really do is refer you to one. if you have insurance then you should have a book that came along with your insurance when you first got it. it will have a list of all docs and specialists that accept your insurance
Nose and ears and throat dr.. dang.. feel better!!
Go to your primary care doc first... He will send you to an ENT and an audiologist to find out the cause, and extent of your hearing loss. Your regular doc will find them for you! I am deaf in one ear and have had one surgery so far.. I grieve for all these kids with blaring music... When they're 40 they'll be like me...Protect your ears, being deaf is no party!!
you need to see your family Dr and then ask for a referral to see an ENT Ear Nose throat Dr

What Kind of deordant to use if sweat alot?

What Kind of deordant to use if sweat alot?
Look for one with a high % of Aluminum zirconium as the active ingredient. Also, putting it on at night before you go to sleep will help reduce the amt you sweat.
    i use Degree
Sure deodorant is effective. You don't want to use anything that will make you not sweat altogether. Not good for you.
What you need is an antiperspirant, which actually clogs and stops your sweat glands from producing-
Not very good for you though- sweating is the body's natural way of cleansing toxins from your body. Do you think you perspire too profusely? Maybe you should see a doctor, and stick with simple deodorant.
I had a female friend who used to sweat a LOT, and she swore by Certain-Dri.
I must sweat more than I once thought because when I use anything other than Degree, I experience major deodorant failure... yikes...
Above all it MUST be an anti-perspirant. Although there has been evidence that links the aluminum zirconium to Alzheimer's (not sure if they've disproved that yet)... just plain deodorants will not work on anyone who has normal sweat glands.

What kind of death do you want to die of or you would like to die of?

What kind of death do you want to die of or you would like to die of?What kind of death do you want to die of or you would like to die of?
crushed by above some how maybe a meteor
I would like to die like Enoch
I imagine most people would say that they would choose to die in their sleep. quiet & without pain or fear.
A quick and painless death would be nice.
i would like to die sleeping when im about 90 if i can make it that long i do not want to be shot or hung or beaten or rap** nothing violent i want to die peacfully maybe in church?!?!?
Uhh... i dont want to die but if i had a choice it would be in my sleep
I agree with clcalifornia, i'd rather die in a sleep than feel pain before dying.
    Peacefully in my sleep.
In my sleep, that would be the best way to go I think.
since i don't want to see it coming...i'd prefer in my sleep...nothing gruesome or too painful or long
If I could die a painless death that would be the way to go. Hopefully in my sleep. My late husband died of a massive heart attack in his sleep. It was instantanous death. He never knew what hit him. That would be the way I would want to go.
id rather die in my sleep too.. no worries, no goodbyes.. no pain...
I'm an optimist. I plan to die on my 102nd birthday, caught in the act & shot by a jealous husband.
While in the sack having sex. If not that then something quick, like getting shot in the head and dying right then.
I dont wanna be burned or drowned.
    hopefully in my sleep
    Painless. In my sleep.

  • What is your opinion on mentally retarded folk engaging in intercourse?

Especially when their IQ's are the equivelant of a 9 year old child's and below? When the female is still menstruating? You wouldn't want your 6 year old child having sex (abuse) AND probably enjoying it, I know I certainly wouldn't.What is your opinion on mentally retarded folk engaging in intercourse?
    Good question.
Well, first of all, it is insensitive to refer to these PEOPLE as you have in the question. You need to say something like those with developmental delays. Second, it depends on how profoundly impacted that their brains have been affected. There are some people that are "retarded" that actually live really close to "NORMAL" lives. They work (something like bagging groceries), have friends, go to church, etc. Why not let them find love. However, it is risky wheneve the other person isn't disabled mentally as well. I understand that. It really is a case by case thing. Remember, they FEEL AND HAVE EMOTIONS TOO. So it is not impossible.

What is your experience with 30 day night&day contact lenses?

I am thinking about switching from my excellent 1 day contact lenses to 30 day night & day contact lenses. I have used 1 day lenses for the last 12 years and really enjoy having new lenses every day. But the fact that I can wear contact lenses for 30 days in a row and being able to see all the time, and not have to worry about taking them out at night is very attractive.
I would really appreciate if someone would share their experience with 30 day night & day lenses, and maybe even someone who made the switch from 1 day lenses to 30 day night & day lenses.
Can you really sleep with your lenses for 30 days without your eyes getting irritable?
And do they feel fresh all the time?
If you switched from 1 day lenses, what were the major differences?
Thanks. What is your experience with 30 day night&day contact lenses?
My eye doctor said they are very good lenses. I had them. However, they gave me an eye infection and the bacteria from that infection put a dent in my eye and now I cant wear lenses for atleast a year.... I would suggest taking them out everynight or every other night to soak them and get them clean. Because, wearing them non-stop for 30 days is what gave me an eye infection...
i forget to take them off even more
I use contact lens too. But as principle, I don't keep them on when I go to sleep. There is an increase chance that you can get an eye infection if you do that.

    What is wrong with me????????

Ok well this morning i got a sore throat. Then my nose started to run(i used my whole pack of tissues is just 2 periods of school. Then I got real congested(my throat still hurts) Then I got a bloody nose. (I am still congested too) And earlier i had a headache and fever. Whats wrongWhat is wrong with me????????
cold or flu most likely. Bloody nose could be from blowing it so often. It's going around. If it lasts for more than a week, go check it out.
It's just your sinuses. Nothing to worry about.
sounds like the start of a cold or the flu
Sounds like you definitely have an infection. You should call your doctor.
you might b allergic to something. Consult an ENT specialist.

    What is wrong with me?

Ok for about the last 2 weeks, if I eat a meal or meat I get diarrea. Just a small snack doesn't bother me though. When I wake up, I am extremely nauseated (Im definitely not pregnant though). And now my upper abdomin is hurting really bad and I am constipated. Please help. I am under a lot of pressure right now, so it could be related to stress but I don't usually stress a whole lot. What is wrong with me?
    gallbladder
see a doctor immediately and have it checked
    You are beautiful.
I suspect food allergies. I am allergic to wheat, soy, eggs and commercial dairy. Consider allergy testing
i could only guess what ever ur age is, is making a change in your body, that this would only be temporary
GO vegetarian but yea have a doctor check it out...could also be alergies
i went trough a thing like this before,it is like a really over-aggagerated stomach flue of something. I mean, like your not visiblly ill, your not lying around sick, your stomach is just acting up.
This sounds like your body is trying to cleanse it's self of something, nothing that you knowingly ate but, somthing like a paticular germ, of maybe some fish.
Just stay calm your not dying.
Drink lots of water, eat like one fruit a day, not more than one though because, it will cause you severe pain.
Stay active, you don't have to go jump on the trampoline if you don't feel like it but, walk when ever you can.
    Hope this helps you out,
    may God bless you!

    What is vetiver therapist?

    What is vetiver therapist?
Vetvier is just a type of essential oil, its used by aromatherapists.
A "vetiver therapist" is one who uses the "drug" in their practice of Mental illness. I have enclosed a little information to back up this point.

What is used for ink to print the brand name on medications?

What is used for ink to print the brand name on medications?
If I am not mistaken it is a soy based ink, or one that uses only Food Dye and Coloring. Either way they are not harmful.
You would have to call the manufacturer of the medication. There's lots of different companies out there and they likely all use something different. Their phone number should be listed somewhere on the medication leaflet or bottle.
    Ink is a mixture of:
    Pigment
    Vehicle (varnish)
    Modifiers
    Additives
    Drier
In the instance of prescription labels, the ink would have to be water and smear proof, i.e., a hard-drying and fast-drying ink made particularly for labels.

    What is this??

I am getting myself all creeped out. I am self diagnosing on the net. Is it normal to have blood sugar levels that are going to highs and to lows over the period of a few days?? Would this mess with your body and make you all wacked out and seem like you are drunk all the time?? I thought at first I was hypo and then i wake up and have levels that are high!! I can't figure it out. Any information would be helpful. I keep thinking I have something worse b/c I won't rely on the blood sugar, I keep thinking it is something else wrong. What is this??
See a doctor ASAP. I am diabetic also, and yes, when your levels are all over the place like that, it's not good and it can make you feel very weird. The goal is to keep your glucose as steady as possible, and at a normal level. One of the typical symptoms of diabetes is to have a high level in the morning, because your liver stores extra sugar overnight and then releases it. You may only be hypo- or hyperglycemic, but you won't know till you see a doctor. It's really not safe to wait on this, see a doctor.
    Good luck to you.
You had better get checked for Diabeties ASAP. I am a Diabetic and blood sugar is NOT something to play around with
Whilst I agree with the previous answer, please note that it is normal for glucose levels to vary according to food intake and energy expended. Please 1) have your postprandial level checked. If this is abnormal have a glucose absorption curve performed. If this is abnormal your doc will know what to recommend.

    What is this?

What are these things...Anyone ever get these? How do you deal with them?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/tonsil_ston...What is this?
These tonsil stones are essentially any material which becomes stuck near the tonsils, which are structures in the back of the throat. Fortunately, they are rather rare. I have never had one nor has anyone who I know. They are generally treated by simply removing the stones with a jet of water or a long Qtip-like device.
that article should answer some of "what are they"..is it states it clear as day!
I've never had this before, but as I read the wikipedia page, ... well, the webpage describes about it thoroughly, so you shouldn't have any problem knowing what it is. As for treatment and prevention from getting these,.... scroll down the page and read... That's what you only need to do.

    It is a pain pill.
512 is generic Percocet 5/325 and contains 5 mg oxycodone and 325 mg acetaminophen
    birth control or an antibiotic
Call your pharmacist if you really think you need to know what the drug is. If you found it and don't know then put it with your other drugs that you are saving to take to a drug recycling program and stop worrying about what it is.
I think birth control, but I know each week for me its a different color....
    Generic percocet.
it sounds like an aspirin or a birth control pill.if it has letter like m.t.w.t.f.s.s. then it,s birth control pills.
It's most likely a Acetaminophen 325mg / Oxycodone 5mg tablet (Percocet). It is a controlled substance used to treat moderate to severe pain. You can always call your local pharmacy or drug store too and they can identify it for you over the phone.

What is this in my leg?

My mom has a problem with her right leg. It's sort of darker than the rest of her skin, and it feels really warm both to her, and when I rub my hand over it. It's like, noticable warmer than the rest of her leg.
It's a little, TINY bit lumpier looking than her other leg, aswell.
Had an X-ray about two weeks ago, and it showed nothing.
Any idea what this could be?What is this in my leg?
It sounds Like Bursitis. Check it out on the Web and see if her symptoms match hers.
Could be a blood clot. The doctor should continue to search for an answer if the x-ray didn't show anything...
If it's bigger then the other leg (in diameter) then it could be a blood clot. She could also have vericose veins.
i would think maybe clot, but i dont know im not a doctor, im only in ninth grade but after two weeks, maybe she should get checked again?

What is this easiest way to get marijuana out of your system?

What is this easiest way to get marijuana out of your system?
go to your local GNC and get some THG its behind the counter so you have to ask for it. Ask for a cleanser. It comes in different flavors and works every time. What you do is you drink the bottle add water to the bottle when your finished after 15 minutes drink that 1 hour before a test.
Although it going to take a month for it to really to clear your system, somebody told me to drink vinegar I don't if it really works or not.
They sell cleansers for that. Here's what goes on: The 'T" in the weed gets trapped in your body fat, so if you don't eat for two days drinking a LOT of water ( and yes brown vinegar ) that gives you time to expel the fatty tissue from your blood. Right before a test, pig out !
it is hard but I know the real anserw, pray to god and ask for forgivness it will work trust me I sware

What is the warmest spot on human body???

I had heard it was the underarm region of the human body but I had also heard it was the groin area, so I was wondering if there was any scientific proof in either direction. Thanks! What is the warmest spot on human body???
Yes, those are some of the warmest parts of your body, however, area beneath your tongue is warmer. I hate to say it, but your, everyone's rectum is the warmest part of their bod.
It would be the liver, but I wouldnt suggest you try to do this unless your dead and the M.E. does it for you. Thats how they determine the time of death.
my boyfriend told me that it was my breasts but i think it's the groin area.
    your underarms.it the warmest spot.
If you have a thermometer handy, try the various areas and you will soon know your warmest spot.
The body is usually 98.6 and is commonly measured under the tongue, the rectum and has probably been measured in the spots you have mentioned.
I'd say the armpit because I've seen doctors place the thermometer in the armpit of babies & children, saying it was the most accurate temperature reading when placed there.
    i vote armpitt.

What is the sharp pain while running?

After running for a while what is that sharp pain you get in your around the bottom of your stomache and side. What causes that and what are ways to prevent it?What is the sharp pain while running?
If you are in a race and this happens, you can put pressure over the area with a fist and bend over for a few seconds. The pain will go away. Otherwise I would just stop and rest.
thats a cramp and its lactic acid produced from your muscles. you cant stop it . it will be less of an occurance the more you run. your muscle will get used to running
I don't know what it is. I think it's just your muscles contrasting and relaxing. But I do know how you can help it. How you breath has a lot to do with it. You may be not getting enough oxygen into your system, or it just could be a sign that you need to work-out more/are at the peak of your work-out.

these people are stupid. it is a good feeling- it's like a head rush, and euphoric. don't knock it until you try it.
although, having said that, the first time you may have a massively blocked up nose ( i did) that wasn't fun at all. like a flu cold, but not snot...just thickness. like your nose is heavy and compact. it's way weird! this will go by the next day
As soon as you do, you get the sensation of being a stupid idiot for having done it.
It burns like hell.and a question for you.are you stupid .Man if you are considering trying it please don't .I started snorting coke and crystal meth and I ended up doing 9 years in Oklahoma State Penitentiary for stabbing My best friend with a hunting knife 9 times.I was a normal person until I
got on drugs .You cannot control it .
The sound of your brain seeping out of your nose while screaming what an idiot you are.
    Seriously.

Paint thinner (acetone) and a large gauge sewing needle.
    * While in the shower soap it well then use your finger in a wash cloth and clean it out.
Or use a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and wipe clean.
    I use a Q-Tip after my shower.
at first; you should wet a dry towel with Luke warm water. Then, try to clean it using that towel.(dont press it hard.!)....Next get a Clean cotton buds and dip it on a Baby oil. Then try to clean it gently.
    vacuum cleaner
    sorbelene cream and cotton bud
Just run the orange under warm water and use a little soap, it's going to be peeled anywa... Oh, belly button? I like to go at it with my pinkie first, to get the big chunks. Then smell your finger. This should be able to tell you how long it's been since the last time you cleaned it. The imitation (Canadian- 300 for $1 at Dollar General ) Q-tip is next. Make sure you rotate it or you'll push a lot of gunk to the inaccessible recesses. Then rinse the rest of it out in the shower. Repeat twice a year. Or once.

What is the safest minimum temperature to go swimming?

hey i was wondering what is lowest temperature to go swimming in and not get hypothermia or other cold related sicknesses? What is the safest minimum temperature to go swimming?
    72 degrees
Water dissipates body heat 20x as fast as air. Body fat % and physical conditioning are the other factors I know of. In below freezing conditions you have app. 6 min. to get out before you will probably need help. The ambient air temp is the big factor, as I have been in glacial ponds @ +5c. but on a +26 day you can get out and warm up fast.
60 degrees is usually comfortable and 50 degrees with a spring suit although many can go in 50 without and it is not unheard of to go into 40...i would say that is the absolute MINIMUM SAFEST...but ya might catch a cold...so ummm yeah.
it is the same as the outside temperature....

  • What is the RIGHT age to get a boyfriend??

What is the RIGHT age to get a boyfriend??
1st off, if you have to ask, then the right age isn't now. If you question your feelings about another or you're worried that your parents wouldn't approve, or if some of your girlfriends that you hang out with have one and are teasing you because you don't, then no, you're still too young. Personally, I think if I had a daughter, I would say 15. That is when they are generally starting High School but I know I would keep a tight rein on her where-a-bouts and who she is seeing. If the guy is a "player", then he wouldn't get near you. He would know the "ground rules" and you would be expected to do the right thing and be trusted to do the right thing. If you do anything to lose that trust, then consequences would occur.
    18 +
i think 18 is a good age to have a bf
    13+
I figure, if you can drive, you can date. This is because a) if you're not mature enough to drive, how can you justify being mature enough to date? and b) do you really want your parents chaperone-ing?
Techniquely, there is no absolute RIGHT age. You could be any age and have a boyfriend. You could be 40 going on 41 and not married but still have a boyfriend. You could be 9 and you really like this guy so you ask him out and you are happy. I think the appropriate age is around 12 to 20.
13+ i guess your mature enough then or for some people 15+

What is the prescription Lexapro used for?

What is the prescription Lexapro used for?
Lexapro (citalopram) is an SSRI used to treat depression and some anxiety disorders.
Lexapro is an antidepressant related to Celexa, but with the "weight gain" molecule removed.
    its an antidepressant
It is an SSRI used to treat major depressive disorder. It does not cause weight gain, but the general side effects are diziness when standing up, some nausea in the beginning of dosage and weight loss. As with most anti-depressants associated as SSRI's they are very difficult to live without once you have taken them. But this may be because people who take them will need them forever.
it is an anti-depressant. What it does is it allows the seritonon that is secreted naturally in the brain hang around alot longer than it normally would. In a normal brain, the receptors that take in seritonin would suck it all back up like a straw, but in lexapro users, the seritonin kinda floats around in the brain because the receptors (straws) for the seritonin have been inhibited by the drug. This is why it is called a Selective Seritonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI).
    lexapro is a anitdepressant

What is the point of our Middle class to work and get taxed more and more for foreign people pouring into ou

Our country? They have taken over education for their children and pay no taxes and of course they have taken over welefare and health system so what is left? What is the point of our Middle class to work and get taxed more and more for foreign people pouring into ou
Shhhhhhhhhh!!!! You are not supposed to ask such questions!!!! That might hurt feelings!!!! And it is more important to not hurt feelings than to inquire about the truth!!!
I too dislike the taxes I pay in middle class, but most immigrants contribute greatly to society most obtain TIN numbers, permits or fake IDs (and those fake IDs still get taxed, at the time they are ready to retire well, the ssn is invalid).
Besides, do you want to work out in the fields picking strawberries for $4.00 an hour and without benefits ???

What is the percentage of bone marrow that is collected during a bone marrow biopsy?

What is the percentage of bone marrow that is collected from the pelvic bone region during a bone marrow biopsy? What is the percentage of bone marrow that is collected during a bone marrow biopsy?
It is about the same amount that is collected.
A bone marrow biopsy may be done in a health care provider's office or in a hospital. Informed consent for the procedure is typically required. The patient is asked to lie on his or her abdomen (prone position) or on his/her side (decubitus position). The skin is cleansed, and a local anesthetic such as lidocaine is injected to numb the area. Patients may also be pretreated with analgesics and/or anti-anxiety medications, although this is not a routine practice.
Typically, the aspirate is performed first. An aspirate needle is inserted through the skin until it abuts the bone. Then, with a twisting motion, the needle is advanced through the bony cortex (the hard outer layer of the bone) and into the marrow cavity. Once the needle is in the marrow cavity, a syringe is attached and used to aspirate ("suck out") liquid bone marrow.
Subsequently, the biopsy is performed if indicated. A different, larger trephine needle is inserted and anchored in the bony cortex. The needle is then advanced with a twisting motion and rotated to obtain a solid piece of bone marrow. This piece is then removed along with the needle. The entire procedure, once preparation is complete, typically takes 5-10 minutes.
Bottom line, they don't need a lot.

What is the likelihood of me bein signed off?

I've suffered from anxiety for about 4 months now, and it has got to the point where I have made myself ill with stress (possible IBS) which isn't helping the situation. I hate my work, and really struggle with it, due to the anxiety and stress. I see a counsellor but I feel I just need time away from work - just get some time out. What is the likelihood of me bein signed off?
if your job is making you stressed to the point of experiencing irritable bowel syndrome perhaps you need to change jobs if that is truly the only cause for your symptoms
i suggest a complete physical to rule out any other underlying causes
seeing a psychiatrist who can prescribe anti-anxiety medication and can possibly give you a letter for temporary disability so that you can continue to collect some money while you sort the problem out and look for another job
    good luck
If work is genuinely making you ill then your doctor will give you a sick note, as well as trying to treat you. You also may want to consider a change of jobs. Good luck, I know how you feel.
The best thing to do is go and see your doctor, have a chat and if they think you need time off they will do it.
Go and see your GP who will give you a sick note. Hope u feel better soon. xx
Change your job as you will be just as anxious about returning to work after your break.

What is the incubation period for the stomach flu?

please give link to show that you have valid evidence of your answer. NOTE: not the stomach virus, but the stomach flu. What is the incubation period for the stomach flu?
    One to two days
Gastroenteritis (stomach flu)is the irritation and inflammation of the digestive tract. This condition may cause abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Severe cases of gastroenteritis can result in dehydration. Gastroenteritis affects people of all ages and both sexes, however the most severe symptoms are experienced by infants and seniors.
The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are watery diarrhea and vomiting. Other symptoms include headache, fever, chills, and abdominal pain. The symptoms may appear within hours or a few days of infection. They usually last for 1 to 2 days, but may last as long as 10 days.
As a healthcare provider I am telling you that you need to narrow your question for it to be answered as you want it to be. The flu IS a virus. Every virus is different so.....incubation periods vary with the specific virus. Pick a gastrointestial virus and then ask the question. And by the way....as a healthcare provider when I get a patient with a 'stomach flu' I do not test to the point that I find out which virus it is. They are all basically treated the same. Viruses are difficult to 'cure' so we usually just treat the symptoms untill it all runs it's course. Dehydration is the biggest issue....so I put the worry into that. Your question is usually not important to those of us actually practicing medicine in most cases of viral gastrointestinal enteritis.
First of all there is no such thing as the stomach flu, it's the same thing as a stomach virus. But the incubation period is one to two days. I've done a lot of research on this, but if you just type in stomach virus into google, you can find all this information.

What is the hottest bath (on average) an adult's body can stand before skin damage occurs? 120°, 130°, more?

I usually like my bath at around 110 degrees. If it drops below 100 degrees, it starts feeling "tepid" to me.
My wife likes it around 100 though...110 feels too hot to her.
Still, at SOME temperature, your skin would start to become damaged and you'd start to literally "cook" yourself. So, what is that magic number that we should not go higher than?
I know for babies and the elderly it might be much lower. What I mean is for average, healthy adults. What is the hottest bath (on average) an adult's body can stand before skin damage occurs? 120°, 130°, more?
Are you sure you like 110? I find most people can't even stand anything over about 107-108. Every degree counts at this point and we are very sensitive within a dregree or two as to what feels hot. I too think 100 is tepid but know that 110 is too hot, at least for me. You can get used to hotter water over time. Most people would consider a hot bath at 105. I think very hot water dries the skin and so that's not good, but I don't know about other damage. I've also known people to develop what's called pressure hives from too hot water and they are forced to take tepid baths and showers....from too much hot water exposure. I've been in hot enough water to turn my skin red but then it ends up feeling cold while very hot....receptors must get confused and it's not soothing. I bet first degree burns occur at around 120 but that's only a guess.
in my health book it says a persson should stay in a hot tub about at 101 degrees for about 10 min then get out
    hey u mean F or C???????????

What is the highest BAC level a person can have before suffering from alcohol poisoning?

What is the highest BAC level a person can have before suffering from alcohol poisoning?
That depends on what you meen by alcohol poisoning, here are the facts:
at a BAC of .10-.15 the person is obviously intoxicated, delirium
    at .24-.36: loss of consciousness
and at .48: severe coma and death
a concentration in the blood stream of 0.55% will kill half of those affected. anything above .4% can be fatal. basically if you weigh less than 150 lbs, and consume 8 drinks in an hour, theres a good chance it will kill you.
its according to a lot of things, your weight, tolerence, how fast you drank, what you drank, what food is in your stomach and what mediacations your on...i knew a girl had almost a 6 and your supposed to be edead at 4.. my friend works in a hospitol, he had a guiy in the other night with almost 5...it depends on a lot of factors.. i personally had a 2.6 and 5 seroquels in me and could walk and talk quite well.... ( and NO, i didnt try to drive.. nobody should ever drive with booze in their system.its a bad idea all around the board)

What is the different between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?

What is the different between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?
    The difference is HUGE!!!
An optometrist can check your eyesight and provide corrective appliances, such as contact lenses and glasses. They go to Optometry Schools. They cannot write prescriptions for medications.
An opthalmologist graduates from medical school and specializes in treatment of diseases and conditions of the eye. They certainly can do anything an optometrist can do, but it isn't what they are focused on at all. They do eye surgery, such as cataracts, Lasik, Lasek, etc. They laser retinal tissues and optic nerve problems. They are highly trained medical specialists and can prescribe medications.
An opthalmologist has an M.D., an optometrist does not.
An ophthalmologist is a real MD that can perform surgery and prescribed meds. An optometrist is a primary eye health care provider that performs eye exams and provides Rx for glasses/contacts whose degree is received from a separate school just for Optometrists.
An optometrist is qualified to measure your eyes for vision defect and prescribe glasses but is not licensed to treat you with medicines. An opthalmologist is a doctor specialising in diseases of the eye which include vision defects, glaucoma, cataract, retinopathy etc. Depending on whether he has done MD or MS (in India we have these two programs) he may be called an opthalmologist (eye specialist) or eye surgeon.

  • What is the difference in apperance to crack and cocaine?

can u get powder crack or does it always come in rock and off white in colour? What is the difference in apperance to crack and cocaine?
Both of these substances are illegal. I don't believe that doing drugs is a criminal issue however I do no it is not a wise decision to use crack or cocaine. Cocaine is a white powder that can come compressed to appear as a rock. Crack is cocaine cooked to change the chemical structure. Crack is smoked and cocaine is usually snorted. Both substances can cause paranora and a feeling of having to have just a litle more. They also depleat chemicals in your brain that just maintain you feeling normal. After abusing cocaine, these chemicals are depleted and a true clinical depression is inevitalbe. You will always feel an impending doom after the cocaine is gone. The cocaine cycle is an extremely diffucult one to stop once one has a taste of the " devil's dandruff'. No one is better off a user or can say they truely feel better that they use. You cant avoid the down side.
The powder can be made into the rock.Dont touch it.
If your doing anything with crack or coke you must be... lets see how to put it RETARTED!!!
crack is rock form. It is made with powder cocain and baking powder. Cocain is just a powdery substance.AND THE COLOR SHOULD BE WHITE.
Coke is powder and crack is a rock..... come on did you really not know this?

What is the difference between the autonomic nervous system and the somatic nervous system?

What is the difference between the autonomic nervous system and the somatic nervous system?
In short: The autonomic nervous system is the part of the nervous system that was once thought to be functionally independent of the brain. The autonomic nervous system regulates key functions of the body including the activity of the heart muscle, the smooth muscles (e.g., the muscles of the intestinal tract), and the glands. The somatic nervous system; operates muscles that are under voluntary control. The autonomic (automatic or visceral) nervous system regulates individual organ function and is involuntary. Opening the mouth is voluntary while blushing is involuntary.
    NREMT-P, CPC
autonomic are things like breathing and blinking, we do not control it it is automatic. the somatic feels pain or moves muscles that you control.
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is responsible for non-voluntary reactions such as fight-or-flight and the "revving" you up (speed up heart rate, quicken breathing, etc.) and calming you down. The somatic nervous system is responsible or voluntary systems, mostly associated with body movement (with the exceptions being reflexes).

What is the difference between heartburn and indigestion?

They just seem very similar and in the same area with pain. Whats the difference? What is the difference between heartburn and indigestion?
Heartburn is a symptom of acid indigestion. Heartburn is a burning sensation generally felt in the chest caused by stomach acids traveling up your esophagus. A sour stomach is abdominal discomfort often accompanied by heartburn.
    yoru photo is cute.
I went to a gastroentreologist this week and asked the same thing. Heartburn you probably know, indigestion apparently feels like a meal that sits there for a long time.
    Same condition! Different Names!
I think heartburn is more specifically a burning sensation.... indigestion is more of a fullness, like it says lack of digestion or slow digestion.
Heartburn is acid reflux. Indigestion is stomach upset (dyspepsia). The two are closely intertwined and often go together.

What is the difference between cigarettes and mini cigars?

Which one effects your health more? What about filtered mini cigars vs filtered cigarettes? If they are similar in size, how do their contents compare? What is the difference between cigarettes and mini cigars?
Cigars usually aren't filtered, and they are completely made up of tobacco leaves, outside and inside.
there's not much difference between the two, besides the label & how much the government taxes them. There's a cigarette company (i forget their name) who sells cigarettes for 99 cents a pack by calling them little cigars.

What is the difference between a stimulant and an amphetamine?

What is the difference between a stimulant and an amphetamine?
Stimulants are a group of substances that stimulate the body's central nervous system (CNS). It incorporates most legal and illegal sources which introduce chemicals into your body, typically characterized by their effects of speeding up the whole CNS.
Amphetamines are stimulants, but they are a certain specific type due to their distinct characteristics and attributes. Amphetamines do stimulate the CNS, but are much more powerful than say, caffeine. Amps (mainly dextroamphetamines) act on the dopaminergic and norepinephrinergic systems of the brain - increasing the levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. Amphetamines are controlled substances in the United States because of their higher potential for abuse. "On the streets", amphetamines are commonly referred to as "speed". (No, methamphetamine is not the true speed! - Common misconception...) Studies have also been done recently in attempts to further prove that amphetamines can possibly cause chemical dependency in the body.
    A simple analogy:
Stimulant is to amphetamine, as tool is to hammer.
(General : specific, general : specific)
A hammer is a tool, but a tool is not always a hammer. Same with stimulants and amps. Amphetamines are stimulants, but not every stimulant is an amphetamine.
Hope this answers your question, mate :)
stimulants are a general class of drugs that include cocaine, caffeine and amphetamines.

What is the difference between a G tube and a PEG tube?

What is the difference between a G tube and a PEG tube?
The G-tube is one of two types of tubes- a nasogastric tube or an orogastric tube. "NG-tube" or "OG tube" respectively. These tubes are inserted either through the nose or mouth and travel down the esophagus into the stomach. The PEG tube is inserted through the abdominal wall surgically to enter the stomach. They end up in the same location, but the G-tubes are usually temporary and the PEG tubes are for long-term usage. They are for introducing things into the stomach when a person cannot take them by mouth- ie. patients who are unconscious, demented, have facial abnormalities that preclude eating, anorexics, etc.
A G tube goes into the lower portion of the stomach and into the gastric region. A PEG tube goes into the stomach.

What is the contagious level of chicken pox?

Im planning to go somewhere today and all the sores have scabbed over so im wondering if anyone around me can still get chicken pox. What is the contagious level of chicken pox?
Generally speaking, children are considered non-contageous when all lesions have scabbed over.
Personally, I would want to make sure you aren't going to be in contact with anyone currently on chemo, has an immune deficiency disorder, or on high doses of steroids. That's just me, not official dogma.
If you are sure there is no weeping sores left, then you will not be contagious. Even just one though will increse the chances of being infections. I agree with grydoc, stay clear of people who are already ill or otherwise compromised.

What is the closest feeling to a bee sting?

what does a bee sting feel like. Does it feel like a shot at the doctors? Does it feel like slamming your finger on a door? What is the closest thing to a bee/wasp sting. What is the closest feeling to a bee sting?
Its hard to describe. Its not that bad. Its more of the shock that hurts. It kind of feels like all the nerves around the spot stand up and the spot that has the sing will feel almost burnt, and very itchy.
It does not feel like a shot at the doctors at all.
Sorry, thats the best I can describe it!
Exactly like a shot from the doctor.
It's like a sudden, sharp burning sensation in one tiny area. It doesn't hurt as much as a shot and certainly not as much as slamming your finger in a door (!), it's the surprise that gets you. The burn can last a few minutes and sometimes it'll be uncomfortable until you pull the stinger out. I've been stung by yellow jackets and hornets but not by a wasp. It's annoying and uncomfortable but not extremely painful. Someone pinching you sharply where your skin is thin is probably most like it.
It feels like you've been been branded with a hot branding iron from the inside out. Burns like H - E - double L
like when you know that the stock market is down with a great lose to you
Like a Red Ant bite, but worse. Raw onion placed on the sting is the best remedy for pain and swelling, believe it or not. If an allergic reaction, take Benedryl and go to emergency room.

What is the cause of the increase in ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)?

Few years ago I was having slight fever for 3 months. My bones and joints were aching. Many tests were done but most of the tests results were normal. In the end, I was asked to undergo a full blood test and found that my ESR were 110. What could have happened? It just went down on its own though. What is the cause of the increase in ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate)?
Although a low ESR is not usually important, it can be seen with polycythemia (a condition where you make too many red blood cells), with extreme leukocytosis (you have too many white blood cells), and with some protein abnormalities. Some changes in red cell shape (such as sickle cells in sickle cell anemia) also lower the ESR. ESR and C-reactive protein (CRP) are both markers of inflammation. Generally, ESR does not change as rapidly as does CRP, either at the start of inflammation or as it goes away. CRP is not affected by as many other factors as is ESR, making it a better marker of inflammation. However, because ESR is an easily performed test, many doctors still use ESR as an initial test when they think a patient has inflammation. Drugs such as aspirin, cortisone, and quinine may also decrease your level.
Inflammation is what causes a ESR to be elevated. Sounds like you had an acute flair up of arthritis. Glad to hear that it went away on it's own. You didn't mention your age, but this also happened to my daughter prior to puberty. If you ever have these symptoms go back to the Dr. There are medications that will help and it is not something to worry about. Good luck

What is the cause of hot red ears?

My son gets hot red ears sometimes...Anyone know what from...Any theory welcome, with ception of off-color (thought I'd throw a little word pun your way!lol)What is the cause of hot red ears?
I don't have really any proof to back this up but I know that when I get hot, red ears it usually means I have the beginnings of an ear infection. Does he have any of the symptoms of an ear infection?
If he does, or even if he hasn't complained of them, I would just take a look in his ears to make sure they're not infected.
    Hope that helps!
Uhh...I kind of don't want to say this since it's your son that's getting the hot red ears but whatever. My ears get really red and hot when I'm having sex.
Sounds like a staff infection...quite common...red, very hot and swollen external ears (near the lobs but can be the cartilidge)

What is the best way to prevent a sore throat?

most of the time i wake up with a sore throat. is there any way to prevent a sore throat? What is the best way to prevent a sore throat?
if you are waking up most of the time w/ a sore throat .......it tells me that it is more than likely one of two reasons....1, you are sleeping in a very dry atmosphere. or 2 you may be breathing through your mouth instead of your nose.........try sleeping w/a portable.....small humidifier running constantly as you are asleep .....that should help eliminate a sore throat....and also if you want to double checkyourself have someone verify that you are breathing through your mouth whike asleep.........usually the reason people breath through their mouth is the fact that it is too dry in the bedroom and your nose will dry out and cause it to stuff up in the night and you wont know it when asleep ,so therefore you automatically start breathing through the mouth...which is a big no no........also you can get an item at the drug store to place on your nose at night which will allow you to always breathe through your nose even though it is dry in the room, however the is some discomfort with the nose thing after awhile as it is actually prying your nostrills to stay open .....so I would try the humidifier first ....it will help you get over your dilema....
    practice
Possibly getting a humidifier so that you can breathe a bit easier and your throat doesn't get all dried out.
Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html...

there isn't any - i hope to god there will never be one - clean up your act then you won't have to worry will you? then go apply for the job (i'm presuming this is for a job application or driving). why put other ppl at risk cos you can't take responsibility for yourself?
    there isnt one
don't do drugs to start with- there isn't one
    It is impossible.
    not possible, but nice try
Stop doing everything one month before the test, or get fake urine online and try to sneak it in. But then there's that pesky jail-time issue to deal with. Gee.
    switch the result/s.
there are detox pills and drinks you can buy, just go to your local smoke shop or GNC nutrition center, they carry those sorts of things.

What is the best things to eat when you have Irritable bowel syndrome or what is best to be avoided?

What is the best things to eat when you have Irritable bowel syndrome or what is best to be avoided?
IBS is a condition where there is a high level of bad bacteria in your intestines and it stops them from working properly, so it's not really about the food, though some spicy foods and meats can irritate it. I went to GNC and got a ProBiotic Acidophilus. It's the same good bacteria that is in Yogurt, but in pill form. They help restore your bacteria balance without having to take pills like Zelnorm that have crazy side effects.
    Lots and Lots of fiber.
Fiber, fiber, fiber, and more fiber! It really helps, I know from expirience.
i would stay away from milk products , spicy foods , fried foods , you dont want to irretate your insides than what they already are .
It would be a good idea to keep a food diary. Everyone's body is different. For some people, milk irritates them, for others it is no problem. For me, chicken and turkey make me very sick. Honey, eggs, beets, and cherries also give me diarrhea. Actually, too, during PMS time, it was more likely for my IBS to act up. I take wild yam and it prevents IBS just before the time of month.

What is the best thing to do when you have a cold i em going camping tomorrow?

What is the best thing to do when you have a cold i em going camping tomorrow?
take something for it, a cold and flu medication, not panadol (doesnt work as fast as normal cold and flu medication), and get a good night's sleep. u may not feel 100% but it would sure be an improvement
Take some warm clothing with you. Also a supply of high dosage (1000 mg) vitamin C tablets. They won't cure your cold but they will help prevent it getting worse.
If you are feeling seriously bad, don't go.
keep tissue paper in your jacket at all times
Head to a health food store near you and try the Wellness Formula by Source Naturals. It has to be the best immune booster out there, I had a friend give me some when I was 15 for a cold and it's been the best thing I've found since then. Usually woks better and faster than most antibiotics too. It just smells horrible. But what a difference. I don't think your regular drug store or grocery store carries it. Unless it's like Ralph's or Safeway. happy Camping. And don't forget your Emergen-C!!
how old are you? 90? Just do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best thing is not 2 go camping if u have a cold.Get 2 feeling better.*

What is the best remedy for sloth--incredible laziness and sleepiness?

I can't seem to get up and go. I wake up tired. I come home tired I can't do the work I need to apply for another job and appy to school. It's taking me a month to get done what I could do in a week. Help!? Any advice? What is the best remedy for sloth--incredible laziness and sleepiness?
When I read this I thought to myself- did I write this!? Anyway, I just got back from a doctor's appt.- they gave me a machine to monitor my sleep. The dr. wants to check to see if I have sleep apnea which causes daytime fatique, forgetfulness and other misc. symptoms. I kinda hope that they find something so that I can be treated for this. I just can't seem to focus on much lately accept for wanting to be in bed! So, Why don't you start off by doing a check like this.
Also, do you take vitamins, get enough sleep, eat properly? I do, but still sleepy!
First of all, you may want to see a doctor and make sure that you are healthy. It could be a sign of an underlying illness.
If you are cleared, consider a few things such as diet and exercise. Think of any major changes that maybe affecting your life. Also - are you possibly depressed? Or even seasonally depressed?
    Good luck!
    Hello Sugar,
Have a full medical checkup. When did you begin to feel tired? Did you fail to achieve something? This can often cause overwhelming feeling of tiredness. Go to www.dianetics.org to find a non-medical solution after you've had a checkup.
I would say that you should go to the doc. As the other poster said, it could be a sleep problem that you aren't even aware of. Also, maybe it's mononucleosis, which can make you VERY tired and lazy. If it's not a physical problem, and it's just a motivational thing, maybe making a small to-do list to finish every day, or a bigger list for the week, would help you get things done.

What is the best advice you could give a new nurse?

Regarding unseen challenges and dealing with doctors. What is the best advice you could give a new nurse?
As far as unforseen challenges, that will lessen as you gain more experience. Dealing with doctors is tricky. Try to gather all of the pertinant info ie: vital signs, o2 saturation, how long has this problem been going on.... then bring your info to the doc and explain what your concerns are and what your findings are to substantiate your diagnosis or concerns. If the doc starts getting too short with you, stand your ground and remind him/her that you are a new nurse and need a little more time to determine pt normals, etc. Good luck.
    Do it naked.
    Marry a doctor, and retire!
My best advice is to look around until you find a hospital that works for you and has a staff you get along with. The nusing shortage affords you the ability to shop around before taking a big sign on bonus and signing a contract.
patience with the doctors...empathy with the patients learn to take a deep breath and relax....you will have to do that a few times a day.

What is the average height and weight for a 13 year old girl?

I am 13 an am about 5'1" and weigh roughly 100 pounds. Am I fat or short for my age?
Also, I just got my period in the beginning of February.Am I still gonna grow? What is the average height and weight for a 13 year old girl?
Hun, i am sixteen, measure 5 feet 3 inches and i weigh 100 pounds (and with no eating disorders) it is "normal", your weight will fluxuate from day to day (just not drastic change). you are not fat, don't worry about it. all you need to do is maintain a healthy diet of foods/beverages (drink lots of water), and get exercise, (even if that means dancing around the house like a freak for an hour each day, like i do). don't let others (including today's media) pressure you into thinking you are fat. you've got to love who and what you are, if you want some tips on balanced diets go to: http://www.mypyramid.gov/ and www.beinggirl.com, both sites i have found really useful.. Good luck hun.
You are fat and short for your age, you will no longer grow because of your period.
dont listen to that loser above me but ur normal, and when the time is right u should grow when you hit ur growth spurt
girls grow until 18 yrs of age.....no matter if they have their period or not....soon after you reach 100lbs is when you start your period.....and your age really has nothing to do with if you are fat.....at 5'1" you should get no heavier than 130lbs (Height for weight ratio) go to the biggest loser website it has a place to enter your hieght and weight to see if you are at a healthy BMI.....

  • What is the average capacity of the human bladder?

I can go for hours without needing the toilet, but when I do go I estimate that I can pass over a litre of urine. What is the average capacity of the human bladder?
    I go all the time.
    The supply is endless...
I used to be able to go for hours without needing the loo but then I had a baby!.......nuff said girls!
    10-20 ounces
it is usually about a litre for the average healthy bladder sometimes more
each individual is different, and illness and disease effect the bladder in different ways, the avaerage healthy person, can hold
up to around 1500 mls, you should collect around 30mls an hour at least in your bladder, and should pass approx 150mls and up each time you go for a wee..
it's not likely that you're passing that much, unless you drink alot, you should drink about 8 200ml glasses of water a day, but 80% of your water intake is from food.
as long as your urine is clear and not offensive smelling you're probably ok, you should however try to wee more frequently like every 3-5 hours....its not very good fro you later in life if you hold onto it for too long as it can cause a prolapsed bladder.
if you're that concerned speak to your GP.
im a nurse and have urodynamic experience.
    hope this helps..x
While working in the nursing homes we actually had to keep track of patients "outputs" they tended to run from 1200ml-1500ml. Some more, some much less.

    What is thalassemia?

    What is thalassemia?
    http://www.thalassemia.org/
that should tell you everything you need to know!! if you need more info, feel free to message me!! :]
    Cooley's Anemia
Thalassemia is the name of a group of genetic blood disorders. To understand how thalassemia affects the human body, you must first understand a little about how blood is made.
People whose hemoglobin does not produce enough alpha protein have alpha thalassemia. It is commonly found in Africa, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, southern China, and occasionally the Mediterranean region. There are four types of alpha thalassemia that range from mild to severe in their effect on the body.
People whose hemoglobin does not produce enough beta protein have beta thalassemia. It is found in people of Mediterranean descent, such as Italians and Greeks, and is also found in the Arabian Peninsula, Iran, Africa, Southeast Asia and southern China. There are three types of beta thalassemia that also range from mild to severe in their effect on the body.
In addition to the alpha and beta thalassemias, there are other related disorders that occur when the gene for alpha or beta thalassemia combines with an abnormal or mutant gene.
The most common treatment for all major forms of thalassemia is red blood cell transfusions. These transfusions are necessary to provide the patient with a temporary supply of healthy red blood cells with normal hemoglobin capable of carrying the oxygen that the patient's body needs.
Also iron builds up in the system and therapies must be followed to eliminate the excess iron or consequences are fatal.
Thalassemia is a recessive trait inherited disease of the red blood cells.

    What is T.B?

MY LIL.SIS GOT A SHOT AND THEY SAID IT WAS POSITIVEWhat is T.B?
Tuberculosis is an infection caused by bacteria, and often affects the lungs. A serious case of T.B (aka consumption) results in painful breaths and the violent coughing up of blood, along with fever and sweating. Your sister should be okay though: almost all people who test positive for T.B. germs do not have an active case of the disease. Also, T.B. is treatable nowadays, and an afflicted person has a very good chance of recovery
    Tuberculosis?
as log as she doesnt have it in her lungs she'll be ok.
check the site below, it should answer all of your questions.
TB is tuberculosis but just because her test was positive doesn't mean she has it. She may just be sensitive to the test solution. YOu can read more about TB on the web.
In this connotation, it has to be tuberculosis, a highly contagious lung disease. What your sister got was not a shot, but the skin test for T.B.
If they haven't been there, yet, expect the Health Dept. agents any time now, and your whole family, as well as anyone else around you are going to get the same test.
I think its not spreading diseae in your country, so it is just an infectious disease in lung, peritonium and intestinal lymph nodes, and it is droplet infection

What is something light to eat before bed, enough to satisfy, that won't upset my stomach?

I hate eating before bed, but my stomach is growling and I won't be able to sleep if I don't eat something. What is something that will satisfy enough so it will shut up? ;)What is something light to eat before bed, enough to satisfy, that won't upset my stomach?
An apple or a banana are good snacks before bed because it's light enough and won't interfere with your sleep.
    try green salads or bisquits
    toast or cereal
crackers help me, they're a light snack that isnt too much to digest before bed
Pudding, like tapioca or butterscotch or chocolate or rice pudding.
I would suggest a bowl of rice crispies if milk agrees with you. Don't add too much milk.
You may just want to take a glass of warm milk w/ a little piece of butter in it to stop your hunger and help you relax and sleep.
milk...it will satisfy you and your stomach...
when you get cravings eat fruits, fruits won't make you fat plus it gives you vitamins and minerals....
exercise regularly at least 30 minutes so your stomach won't grow bigger...
Warm milk and foods high in the amino acid tryptophan, such as bananas, may help you to sleep and will not upset your stomach
Just get a warm cup of "MILO", never take food or supper before bed, because is very easy to get fat easily.

What is nursing? What is special about nursing that is different from other health profession?
Nursing is about helping all people, not just those who are ill. It is special because of the diversity. There are so many specialties you can explore. For instance you can work on a medical/surgical ward or in the ER or a doctors office. What is more accurate an MRI scan or the one with electrodes on the head ?

What is more accurate an MRI scan or the one with electrodes on the head ?
The 2 tests are looking for different things. The MRI is looking for physical brain abnormalities, bleeds, clots, injuries, tumours and malformations. The electroencephalograph, EEG, is looking for electrical disturbances, such as in epilepsy.
    MRI by far.
MRI is much more accurate its a 3D picture of your insides and the doctor can see so much more the electrodes can' t do that at all.
I assume you are referring to an EEG when you talk about the one with electrodes on the head. These tests look for different things and are not comparable to each other.
The electroencephalograph (EEG) is used to detect brain waves, which the MRI cannot. The MRI gives a "picture of the interior of the body, which the EEG cannot.
It is not that one is more accurate than the other, they simply have different functions.
If you use these methods to diagnose something in your head, then they are complementary.
With MRI you will see the structures in the brain. With the electrodes (electroencephalogram =EEG) you have a recording of the brain activity.
Depends on what the medical people are looking for and what your problem is. An MRI scanner will highlight any anomalies in the brain, such as clots, growths etc. whereas the electrodes (ECG) read the brain wave patterns to diagnose neuropathic problems.
MRI is a very sophisticated scan
the leads are usually used to monitor brain activity as in epilepsy
you may have epilepsy but for no apparent cause so if diagnosing epilepsy you will need both
They are two totally different things, it depends what your having these tests for.

    What is monovision?

    What is monovision?
Monovision is an option for particular vision problems, and associated with contact lenses, where by one contact sees say distance with a certain prescription, and the other contact in the other eye sees at another distance, say for reading.
Monovision is a way to get bifocal vision with your contact lenses, without using a bifocal contact lens. It works like this - you wear one contact lens for distance vision, and the other (with a different prescription) for near vision. Not everybody can get used to using one eye for far and one for near, but surprisungly about 4 out of 5 can.
Maybe the same thing as mono ocular vision. If it's yes. It means when a person has lost the sight of one eye, so this person can just see by one eye.

is it not a medicine that is given to help someone off of doing drugs?
An opiate based prescription drug prescribed to heroin addicts. It relieves the symptoms of withdrawel. It also also addictive and if prescribed continually without reducing the dose, it can actually be worse to come off than heroin is!
It's a liquid, similar to heroin, given to heroin addicts to help them through withdrawal. As the withdrawal period passes, so does the need to take methadone. Unfortunately, some people become addicted to methadone or take it with other medications, especially antidepressants in order to become "high."
It is used for herione addicts to help deal with the withdrawl symptoms. However, it is also a powerful pain killer. It is often used for terminally ill patients.

Each country has its own definition. Go to the foundation for fighting blindness or the web of vision to check the terminology for your country. I have less than 5% of central vision only
I don't know. I was sitting next to a lady playing bingo and she said she was legally blind, but she could see the numbers.
According to my best friend who is an optician, legally blind is when your vision cannot be corrected to better than 20/100 with eyeglasses or contact lenses.
legally blind means that you can only see
things right close up to your face and things
    further away are grey masses
10.5 is very poor eyesight it should be 20 20
in eyes to be good sight
Legally Blind means you don't have your full vision and is impaired what you do see. Unfocused, blurred, 1/2 there things like that.

What is knock knees?? Can you fix it?

What is knock knees?? Can you fix it?
Knock knees is when your knee caps face inwards. (I have knock knees).
There's nothing to do to correct it short of surgery.
a condition where the knees angle in and touch when the legs are straightened if it is bad enough it may need surgery........

    What is it with life?

    What is it with life?
Exactly what you make of it.
    Nothing more or nothing less.
Basically a means to an end. We are just here until we kick that great metaphoric bucket. Or this could all be an illusion, you really never know do you??? jk

What is it when there is a swollen raised warm spot about the size of a tennis ball around?

coult it be a reaction from immunizations that were given about a week ago in the same spot?Just itchy but no pain. What is it when there is a swollen raised warm spot about the size of a tennis ball around?
Yes, that's probably what it is. You can put a warm towel on it and it will go down soon.
If it is the size of a tennis ball in diameter you need to go get this checked out by a doc. It could be a reaction of some sort but if it is the docs will need to see and make a note of it on your charts. Get it checked out.
if it was from an allergy shot, call your allergist and tell him so he can cut down your shot dose.
if it was from a vaccine, maybe you're allergic to something in the vaccine.
either way you can take some benadryl and put ice packs on it.
if you start having trouble breathing or it spreads more or the itching becomes "all over", you should go to the hospital right away.
It depends on where the immunization was given. . . Call your doctor.
don't second guess. go to a doctor
Probably some reaction to the immunization. Get it checked though.
If your child has a "tennis ball" where his/her immunizations were given, you should contact your doctor. This is an adverse reaction from the immunization, and it should be reported to VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System.
If your doctor refuses to report it, *you* should report it.

What is it like to be colorblind?

on little miss sunshine, don't you think thye son would've known he was colorblind already? What is it like to be colorblind?
i didn't know till i was an adult
i see some color..but many look the same
How could a colorblind person possibly know they are colorblind? All they know is what they've seen.
i dont think people know they are colorblind until they are told. My dads best friend is color blind and had to be told what color his cars were. he says green and reds are the hardest to pic out. like on stop lights. its just a gray light on. I think we are told what color is what and if you are told since you were born that the blue pen you write with is actually purple all the time, would you grow up thinking its purple even though it says blue? I always thought its what we are told to think.

What is in warm milk that helps you fall asleep?

Does warming milk change the chemistry of the milk? Why does this help you sleep? What is in warm milk that helps you fall asleep?
    http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mwar...
Tryptophan is the main reason; warmth is the other.
    Nite-nite ......
    -MM
cause its warm and it relaxes u
Actually it doesnt have to be warm to have the same effects . It helps babies cause you always warm their bottles.
I think the calcium is enhanced. Calcium can be used as a natural relaxant.
Calcium girl, calcium is a mild nerve relaxant, unless you're lactose intolerant that is.
Milk contains L-Tryptophan, a natural sedative. Warming milk doesn't create it or make it more potent, but a warm drink is comforting - maybe it reminds us of our babyhood. Don't boil it, though, just warm it:-)

    What is hypermobile shoulders?

I've been told that I have hypermobile shoulders & don't get it, what does it mean? What is hypermobile shoulders?
    This : http://www.arc.org.uk/about_arth/booklet...
Who told u? a doctor? If so, then ask what that means! Whoever asked u ask them right back - but I know that "hyper" means to over extend like - hyperextension of the knee is when it kinda bows backward - so what I'm thinking is that you might have a good range of motion in your shoulders - maybe double-jointed a bit??
It means that you have extremely mobile shoulders. In order words you can dislocate your shoulders without injury. People with this can squeeze into places others can't. Like the fellow who can pull a tenist racket over his arms and over his entire body, but I don't advice you to try this. Having hyper mobile shoulders is nothing to be worried about.

What is hot flush? Why it occurs?

What is hot flush? Why it occurs?
Flush is when your in first phases of menopause. You turn red flush with a hot feeling in your body. Usually your face and ears then it turns into a flash with the sweating. This is how my doc explained it to me.
I guess if your toilet was hooked up to the hot water line you would get a hot flush. It occurs when you push the handle down on the tank.
It's all part of growing older, and reaching another 'magical age'.
Try to think of it as a brief tropical vacation.
do you mean hot flash?? it would be caused by mentopause. which is a time that your body stops having periods and estergin should help dont know for sure what your question is or about mentopause

  • What is gangrene?

    What is gangrene?
Gangrene is necrosis and subsequent decay of body tissues caused by infection or thrombosis or lack of blood flow. It is usually the result of critically insufficient blood supply sometimes caused by injury and subsequent contamination with bacteria. This condition is most common in the extremities. The best of all possible treatments is revascularization (restoration of blood flow) of the affected organ, which can reverse some of the effects of necrosis and allow healing. Depending on the extent of tissue loss and location, treatment other than revascularization runs the gamut from allowing digits to auto-amputate (fall off), debridement and local care, to amputation, the removal of infected necrotic tissues.
Gangrene is a condition when any limb of ur body gets malfunctioned. In this case that limb becomes disfunctioned n is removed by amputation (i.e.it is cut off by surgery). Not removing that part may cause poisoning of entire body.
