Dale, The age of your mother is important as it defines what insurance can be offered. There is Blue Cross and Blue Shield, they are expensive. As the other person noted the state you live in also matters.

There's liquid Motrin and liquid Tylenol.
I don't think there are any pain killers made in liquid form. Perhaps you can try to cut the pill in half and try to swallow it that way...
Not sure, but a basic cold medicine that has a pain reliever might help.
I don't swallow pills much at all either, and if they aren't little then forget even trying. I tend to just bite an Aleve real quick, but that takes getting used to because they burn a bit going down (oddly enough). Would not recommend that for a sensitive stomach.

Anytime I feel a cold coming on I drink 3-4 glasses of Wellness Tea, by Celestial Seasons. Drink 3 to 4 glasses of it per day. Its the one that contains echanacia , zinc and vitamin C.
I would bulk up on zinc lozenges as well.

It's a rectal thermometer with a rounded tip( bulb) as oppossed to a long tip. You can purchase them in any drugstore.
